KOREATOWN ODDITY NO LLORES

L.A rapper and producer Koreatown Oddity's new album Dominiques Little Nosebleed is an eclectic and exciting collection of avant-garde hip hop songs, featuring the likes of Sudan Archives, C.S Armstrong and Anna Wise. The new album tells the origin story of his "supernatural powers and spiritual awakening", the results of two car accidents that occurred in his childhood while growing up in Los Angeles’ Koreatown district. Mid-album track 'No Llores' stands out as one of the most eclectic songs of the album, featuring Trenttruce, Edule, Emmanuel Coto. Ghost train style organ opens the song, setting a murky atmosphere. Open line is "Sometimes I wana cry, but I can't tho, I gota stay strong and get more done". Oddity's verse comes in strong, and asks for justice: "...winter, spring, summer to autumn, life's preparing you for situations that's harder, I know exactly how you feel from the drama, when your tear ducts swell up with water.". Edule's Spanish sung lines are impassioned and mournful as she belts "no llores", which translates to "don't cry". 'No Llores' is a melancholic song, which asks for justice, uncovers the want to cry, and upsettingly tells us why he can't: in order to "get more done"-Ellie Rose-Davies
